An Evaluation for Efficacy of a Dietary Supplement Designed to Augment Lean Body Mass, Improve Strength, Decrease Fat Mass & Alter Hormone Levels Background:

USP Llabs Prime ™ is a dietary supplement marketed for its purported ability to increase lean body mass, decrease body fat, and improve strength output via an anabolic effect in exercising adults.

Objective: The purpose of this open-label, single-arm, non-randomized pilot study was to determine what effect USP Labs Prime ™ had upon body composition (i.e. lean body mass and fat mass), strength and hormones in normal, exercising adults.

Methods: After volunteering for study, 12 male subjects were assessed for body composition prior to supplementation and once more after 30 days. In addition, blood was drawn once pre and post supplementation and evaluated for vitals, Total Testosterone, Free Testosterone and Luteinizing Hormone (via LabCorp). The dosage of USP Labs Prime ™ was six capsules in three evenly divided doses per day with meals. Changes in body composition were assessed via 7 site skin fold testing.

Results: Upon comparison to the baseline, the mean increase in body weight was 4.29 lbs. Further calculations revealed decreased fat mass of approximately 2.08 lbs with an increase in lean body mass of 6.37 lbs. In addition, mean testosterone levels (Free and Total) and Luteinizing Hormone levels were not significantly affected.

Conclusions: The preliminary data gathered suggest the ingredients in USPlabs Prime ™ can increase body weight and lean body mass, while decreasing fat mass in exercising adult males. In addition, bench press and deadlift strength improvements were significant.
