Coconut Manna is a delicious whole food, made of pure, dried coconut flesh. This tropical "melts in your mouth" treat contains 16% fiber and 7% protein and nourishing fats. Warm it up to spread the goodness. Coconut Manna is great for smoothies, sauces, dressings, desserts, icing, and ice cream. Coconut Manna can be used to replace cream cheese and butter in many of your favorite breakfast foods. Add 2 Tbsp of Coconut Manna to hot oatmeal ... delicious!
To liquify, place jar in hot water for 2 minutes and stir. Note: the red or brown specks are characteristic of natural coconut products.
I love coconut manna. I use it to make chocolate, using this instead of cocoa butter and it comes out great. I also eat it straight out of the jar. It has a nice coconutty flavor and is very low in carbs. It's really good for you too.
I love the flavor and texture of this stuff.. It does need to be melted and I don't really recommend mixing it in shakes since it will harden once it cools down. But once melted it is spreadable, and tastes really good to just spoon out of the jar. I will order more simply because its ingredients are great, and it tastes amazing.
I really love the taste of Coconut Manna. However, it requires melting in the cooler months since it becomes solid. After melting it, I portion tablespoonfuls of Manna into ice-cube trays. When they become solid again I then store them in an air-tight container. Just pop the equivalent amount of Manna cubes I want into hot liquids or microwave for other applications. Also, if you try the recipe Coconut Manna Milk Recipe on the Nutiva website, the milk definitely needs straining otherwise it will be quite grainy. It also has a tendency to separate if stored in refrigerator.
Coconut Manna is funny stuff!
I bought it thinking it might be a peanut-butter type spread replacement
and found that it indeed has a very pleasant mildly nutty taste.
However it is a 'high maintenance spread'. At room temperature the stuff
is SOLID. It MUST be melted by letting the jar stand in hot water or
by careful microwaving with the lid off. I say _careful_ microwaving because
microwaving too long will brown the coconut manna. So let us say give
the stuff a 'short quick jolt' to speed it on its way to melting.
Another thing that is funny is its 'mouth feel'. The label says 'melt in your mouth'---in fact the opposite is the case. Warm, melted coconut manna begins to 'freeze' in your relatively cold mouth and so it starts to feel a little mealy. But it is still good.
If the stuff did not require melting I would have given it a 5 because it is indeed nice tasting and nutritionally seems good. I think it would be better in a frosting or incorporated into baked goods like brownies rather than as a spread.
Note: the red or brown specks are natural to coconut.
